Salt Pan Stereographic Panorama

Looking Inward, a slightly different view of the Horizon.

A "Reversed Latitude - Stereographic Projection" of a 360° Stitched Fisheye Panorama of the Salt Pan at Kersefontein, Velddrif, Western Cape, South Africa, November 2006.

In Winter this Salt Pan is transformed into shallow lake after the Winter rain, and then becomes a breading ground for Flamingos. As Spring arrives, the water quickly dries up, and only hardy Succulents are able to survive the extreme dry and salty conditions of this amazing and harsh environment.
